There’s no need for frustration, folks. Today, I’ll be sharing 8 effective ways to get followers on Twitter.
#1. Post at the Best Times
First and foremost, it’s important you’re posting at a reasonable time to reach your audience, based on where you live. Early mornings, lunchtime, and after work is typically the best times to post for most people.
Research states that the time between 3 PM to 1 AM is the optimal time to share on social media, with social traffic being at its highest in the late afternoon.
Most social media experts will tell you that this is true as they schedule their tweets for later in the day when people are done with work and catching up with their social media feeds.
If you’re just setting up your Twitter account from scratch, start posting at random times to figure out which times work best for your brand.
Once you start doing this, your Twitter account should start analyzing the best times to post.
#2. Tweet More Often
One of the easiest tactics to get followers on a Twitter account is to tweet more often. The more you share, the more followers you get.
Some of the reasons this works so well are because:
- You become more practiced and effective at tweeting
- You’re more active and can interact with more people and
- You have a larger volume of valuable tweets for people to interact with.
A good amount to tweet per day is anywhere between 3 and 7 tweets to maximize engagement. Some brands even tweet as often as 15 or 20 times per day.

Humans are visual, so you can safely assume that tweets containing visual content will receive more likes, shares, and retweets than those without them.
While there’s nothing wrong in posting solely text-based tweets, images, videos and GIFs are better poised to grab the attention of serial scrollers and encourage them to take a look at your post.

Hashtags are a way for people who are also searching for those topics to easily find you – and possibly get more followers for your account.
So for example, if you were posting about “How to Get Followers on Twitter,” you could include quick hashtags such as #GrowYourFollowing #GetFollowers, or #GainFollowers.
There are also standard hashtags to include at the end of your tweet in order to get the audience you want. For instance, if you’re a travel blogger, you can include #travelblogger as a hashtag for every tweet.
Of course, the hashtags you use must be related to the topic of your tweet. You could use popular trending hashtags such as #MotivationMonday or #tbt and share some related tweets regarding those hashtags.
Additionally, you can piggyback on event-based hashtags as well (for example, sporting events, awards shows, etc.) if your content is related to them.
