Wanna Have A Blog Carnival?
Kurt Schweitzer of Rochester Entrepreneurs Resource wrote this on the Blogging for Business network.
I came across a new term recently - blog carnival.
As I understand it, a blog carnival is a mechanism for attracting people to your blog who might not otherwise visit. It works something like this:
1) A date, topic, and host are assigned for the carnival.
2) Participants are invited to submit links to posts they've made in their blogs that are relevant to the topic. Those links are sent to the host (via email?).
3) On the designated date the host arranges those links into a message that is posted on his/her blog.
4) All the participants post messages in their blogs that point to the host's message (which points to all the participants' blogs).
5) Because of all this cross-linking, visitors to any of the participating blogs find out about the others.
If all of this is successful, they do it again (a new date, maybe a new topic, usually with a different host).
Has anyone here participated in one of these carnivals? If so, what did you think of it?Was it successful? What problems came up? Would you do it again?
I wish I could answer Kurt’s questions. Unfortunately I’ve never tried anything of this sort myself. But I think it might be fun to give it a try.
So if anyone out there is interested in working out a little blog carnival, do get in touch with me.
