There are millions of blogs on the Internet — a new one is created every seven-and-a-half seconds. More than 10,000 new additions are added to the "blogosphere" each day.
From filing firsthand reports from the areas devastated by southern Asia's deadly tsunamis, encouraging donations to relief groups, posting the names of the missing and expressing sympathy for the victims…
…to becoming a driving force in politics, with coverage of the 2004 presidential campaigns and election.
… to being used as campaign tools by politicians.
It’s no suprise then that a new study shows readership of blogs grew significantly in 2004. But bloggers still face challenges in growing their readership because a large number of Americans remain clueless — only 38 percent of Internet users know what a blog is.
